The North Norfolk Saltmarsh Underwater
This is an unusual Gallery as I have not seen Saltmarshes photographed in this way before, these plants are seen in quite different light 'litterally'.
For a number of years now I have been Snorkeling in and over the Saltmarshes around Brancaster Harbour and Scolt Head Island and along the North Norfolk coast, with this project I have been particularly focused in photographing the plants of the Saltmarsh, seeing these familiar plants in 'unfamiliar surroundings' with the underwater light, refraction, reflection and the odd bubble and lots of cloudy murky water this project has produced some interesting results. It is rare but when the water is clear it can be the most amazing experience underwater in this environment, swimming in clear water on a hot day, among Flowering Sea Lavender and Shrubby Seablight and the silvery leaves of Sea Purslane and coming face to face with a shoal of Sea Bass
Its not often you can see Flowering Plants underwater, yet alone with Fish, Crabs and the odd Jellyfish.
Most of these plants also come to 'life' in the sense of, instead of looking at a limp, lifeless, often dirty looking plant with bits of dried seaweed on them they have a different shine, become more upright and flow 'to and fro' in the current and any weed on them hydrates, floats and flows with the plant and current.
