Boats, People and other Stuff
Scolt Head Island is accessed by the small harbour of Overy Staithe in the east and Brancaster Staithe in the west. Overy is the smaller of the two and mostly local pleasure craft operate from here, Brancaster Staithe is more active and has a lot more boats moored here, and the Brancaster Staithe Sailing Club BSSC is based here, this club regularly holds races in the Harbour with a large following of a local sailing boat the 'Sharpie' and often hosts the world championships in this class.
Brancaster Staithe still supports a small fishing community it is a local hub in North Norfolk for Shellfish mainly Mussels, Cockles and the Oyster trade in the winter, combined with a few boats operating for Crab and Lobsters in the summer.
This Gallery includes images of interesting Boats, People and anything else related to usage of the Island and surrounding Harbours of Burnham Overy and Brancaster and their relative Staithes.
